DECLARATION OF THE YATSU HIGATA DAY

We recognize the Yatsu Higata Tidal Flat, which was designated to be a Ramsar Site at the conference on date June 10, 1999 in Kushiro, is the precious natural asset.

And, we swear hereby to conserve it through a joint cooperation by the city and the communities with an aim for "The harmonized being between the city and the nature".

We declare hereby that the date June 10th hereafter shall be called as "The Yatsu Higata Day".

The city of Narashino has instituted the "Yatsu Higata Day" to be June 10th starting from 1997.

The Yatsu Higata tidal flat in Narashino was designated on June 10th, 1993, as the Registered Site of "the Ramsar Convention" which was agreed upon internationally regarding the wetlands of importance for the waterfowls. This indicates the Yatsu Higata tidal flat is a precious natural asset not only for the city and the people but also for all the people of the world.

Today, the Yatsu Higata tidal flat has been conserved by the effort and wish of many people. We have thought of, studied and practiced on the subject of harmonized being between ourselves and the Nature in relation to the preservation of Nature and the conservation of Environment.

We have instituted "The Yatsu Higata Day" and declared as the day for the action, the cooperation and the thinking to conserve the environment through the joint concern and knowledge between the widely participated communities and the city office.

Celebration event is held for "The Yatsu Higata Day"in June ,every year.
